Optimux-125

Fiber Multiplexer for 16 T1s and Ethernet

The Optimux-125 16-channel T1 and Ethernet fiber optic multiplexer provides a simple and cost-effective solution for transporting multiple T1 links, as well as high speed data and Ethernet, for distances up to 110 kilometers (68 miles). The transmission of each of the T1 tributary channels is independent. Optimux-125 features a Fast Ethernet port enabling a full 100 Mbps Ethernet connection in addition to the capacity of the 16 T1 channels.
The Optimux-125 has four operational modes:

  • T1 and Ethernet at 100 Mbps
  • T1 and high speed (V.35) data
  • T1, high speed data and Ethernet at 6/8 Mbps
  • T1 only

Optimux-125 is part of the AXCESS+ portfolio of multiservice access and First Mile solutions.

  • Redundant uplink interfaces and power supply

Optimux-125 provides a simple, flexible, and cost-effective solution for transporting multiple T1 links, high speed data and Ethernet over a fiber link at distances of up to 110 kilometers (68 miles).

Each product features two license activated operation modes:

  • In the 25 Mbps operation mode, the units are fully compatible with Optimux-25
  • In the 125 Mbps mode, the product supports 100 Mbps of user Ethernet traffic as well as 16 T1 circuits over a fiber optic link.

In the 25 Mbps operation mode, the unit multiplexes up to 16 T1 links. The data rate of the TDM ports can partially be replaced (user-selectable) by the 10/100BaseT user Ethernet traffic or by an optional high speed data V.35 interface.

Market Segments

  • Mobile Operators –Backhauling 2G voice services, 3G and HSPA in rural locations to a central site over fiber. In such applications, Optimux acts as a fiber extender to reach distances of up to 110 kilometers (68 miles).
  • Carriers and Service Providers –The migration to all-packet networks has changed the telecom industry greatly, but there remains an enormous base of installed devices that use TDM serial interfaces alongside Ethernet services. Optimux-125 provides a solution to carriers and service providers that employ both TDM and Packet-Switched Network (PSN) infrastructures yet wish to extend services in a single chassis solution.
  • Enterprises – Multiservice sharing of TDM, high speed data and Ethernet for voice and data connectivity in point-to-point topology over dark fiber for university campuses, health care organizations, financial institutions, and government offices.
